AFCAT 2023 Application Form, Exam Date, Eligibility, Exam Pattern

AFCAT 2023: Air Force Common Admission Test is a gateway for entry in all three wings of the Air Force .i.e. the Flying branch, Technical branch, and Non-Technical branch. To become a part of the Indian Air Force, Air Force welcomes desired candidates by conducting AFCAT twice a year. The duration of Training after qualifying examination is 72 weeks for Flying, and Ground Technical departments while for Non-Technical wing candidates have to go through 52 weeks training session.

Eligibility Criteria

For Flying Branch (through AFCAT & NCC Special Entry)

  • Age: 20 to 24 years
  • The upper age limit for candidates holding a commercial pilot license issued by DGCA (Indian) is relaxable up to 26 years.
  • Educational Qualification: Applicants should have qualified 10+2 with a minimum of 60% in Subjects mathematics and Physics. or BE/BTech who have scored 6o% marks, also in 12th Standard.

For Ground Duty (Technical)

  • Age: 20 to 26 years
  • Educational Qualification: All candidates applying for AE (L) branch should have scored 60% in Aeronautical Engineering and also 60% marks at 12th standard.

For Ground Duty (Non-technical)

  • Age: 20 to 26 years
  • Educational Qualification: Applicants must have a graduation degree in any discipline with not less than 60% marks.
  • Candidates having 60% marks in Section A& B examination of Aeronautical Society of India or Associate member of Institute Engineers.

AFCAT 2023 Application Form

The mode of application for the AFCAT is online; Applicants have to visit the official website of Air Force, www.careerairforce.nic.in. Firstly applicants have to register and generate the login id & password for further process. Applicants have to fill application form details as per the details of their academic documents. Candidates must upload scanned images of photographs & signatures. For the successful submission of the application, payment of the fee is an important step and applicants have to go through it. After successful submission of the Application form take a printout of the confirmation page for future references.

Application Fee

  • The application fee for AFCAT is INR 250 (not applicable for Meteorology and NCC special Entry).
  • The fee can be submitted only by online mode by payment gateway via debit card/credit card/net-banking.
  • No cash /Cheque/demand draft is accepted for the payment of the application fee.

Selection Process

  • Selected candidates in the written examination will be called for the screening test, Stage-1.
  • In the screening test, the Officer Intelligence rating test will take place by picture perception and discussion.
  • The selected candidate will move for stage-2, where a psychological test and group test will take place to check interaction and personal conversation with interviewing officer.
  • This whole process will take 5-6 days.
  • The candidate who will qualify in the interview will be called for the Medical examination.
  • After completing the whole process, all India merit lists will be made on the basis of written and interview performance.

AFCAT 2023 Exam Pattern

  • Type: The question paper will be of Objective type.
  • Duration: The exam will be for 2 hours.
  • Questions: Total of 100 questions will be asked in the Examination.
  • Maximum marks: 300 marks.
  • Marking Scheme: 3 marks will be awarded for each correct answer while 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Staff Selection Board (SSB) Interviews

  • The SSB interviews involve the following 2 Stages:
  • Stage-I involves 2 tests:
  1. Officer Intelligence Rating Test
  2. Picture Perception and Discussion Test
  • Stage-II involves 3 tests:
  1. Psychology Test: Written Exam
  2. Group Test: Combination of Indoor and Outdoor Activities
  3. Interviews

AFCAT 2023: Important Points

  • AFCAT Examination takes place twice a year.
  • After cracking the written examination, candidates have to face an interview session and a medical checkup.
  • 1/3 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer, so be aware.
  • Check previous year’s question papers for a better understanding of exam patterns.
